The double acting gas booster pump has one drive cylinder and two high-pressure cylinders
In the middle position is the drive cylinder, where compressed air enters and pushes the large piston inside the cylinder to reciprocate. The pressure inside the cylinder generally does not exceed 8 bar. Therefore, aluminum alloys that are lightweight and easy to machine are usually used to manufacture the drive cylinder body.
The high-pressure cylinder is symmetrically arranged on both sides of the driving cylinder, and the gas medium is compressed in the high-pressure cylinder to increase pressure. Therefore, the high-pressure cylinder is a high-pressure and high temperature environment. In most cases, we use stainless steel with advantages such as high pressure resistance, corrosion resistance, and fast heat dissipation to manufacture high-pressure cylinder bodies.
The Cooling jacket is installed around the high-pressure cylinder, and its function is to use low-temperature and low-pressure exhaust air to take away the heat of the high-pressure cylinder, thereby cooling the gas booster. The material of the cooling jacket is also stainless steel.
The shuttle valve, as known as directional valve or reversing valve, is located at the top of the drive cylinder, and its function is to periodically change the direction of the driving air, thereby reversing the driving piston and causing it to move back and forth. In order to reduce motion inertia, lightweight alloys are usually used to manufacture directional valve sleeve, and special plastics are used to manufacture directional valve core.

There are multiple seals inside the gas booster pump, and different materials and characteristics of seals are used in different parts. For example, the pressure and temperature inside the drive cylinder are not high, so the drive piston seal is usually made of FKM ( fluorine rubber). The high-pressure cylinder is usually in a high-pressure and high-temperature state, so there are strict requirements for the performance of the seals. In most cases, we use TPFE material spring sealing rings. For speciality gas booster pumps, we will customize special sealing rings based on the characteristics of the gas medium. For example, CO2 pumps and N2O pumps, we use low-temperature resistant sealing rings; The oxygen pump is equipped with an oxidation resistant sealing ring; The gas sampling pump is usually used for low-pressure sampling of corrosive gases such as hydrogen sulfide, so we use corrosion-resistant sealing rings.
