Basic Types of Air Driven Gas Boosters

Air driven gas boosters are pneumatic piston reciprocating pumps, which take compressed air as driving power and can convert low-pressure gas to high-pressure gas. Now let me introduce several common types of air operated gas boosters.

Single Acting Gas Booster

There is only single high-pressure cylinder equipped with single acting gas booster. During one reciprocating motion of the piston, the gas can be compressed once only, and the high-pressure gas can be discharged once only. Therefore, the single-acting gas supercharger outputs high-pressure gas intermittently.

Double Acting Gas Booster

Double acting gas booster is equipped with two high pressure cylinders, both of which are identical. When one high-pressure cylinder discharges the compressed gas, another high-pressure cylinder inhales new gas, and vice versa. During a reciprocating stroke, the double acting gas booster compresses gas twice and discharges high pressure gas twice. That is, the double-acting gas booster continuously outputs high-pressure gas flow. Therefore, it has the advantages of small pressure pulsation and more stable high-pressure gas flow.

Two Stage Gas Booster

Two-stage gas booster is equipped with a medium-pressure cylinder and a high-pressure cylinder, whose piston is smaller. Firstly, the gas enters the medium-pressure cylinder and is compressed for the first time. Then the compressed gas enters the high-pressure cylinder and is compressed again. In short, the two-stage gas booster supercharge gas by twice compression during a reciprocating stroke. The greatest feature of two stage gas pump is that it can pressurize gas from very low pressure to very high pressure.
