Oxygen cylinders come in different materials, volumes, and nominal pressure ratings. Based on their application, oxygen cylinders can be subdivided into industrial oxygen cylinder, aviation oxygen cylinders and medical oxygen cylinders. All of these are seamless cylinders, namely high-pressure cylinders. Therefore, you need to use water jacket method to perform hydro test on oxygen cylinders.
What is Water Jacket Method Oxygen Cylinder Hydro Test

The oxygen cylinder water jacket hydro test is to place an oxygen cylinder in a sealed water jacket to carry out oxygen cylinder expansion deformation test. It can accurately detect the volumetric expansion rate of an oxygen cylinder, thus determining whether the oxygen cylinder is qualified and suitable to serve. Therefore, you will need a gas cylinder hydrostatic test machine to complete the oxygen cylinder testing.
Oxygen Cylinder Hydro Test Procedures

First, fill clean water to your oxygen cylinder and place it in the water jacket , then put the lid on the water jacket. Start the hydrostatic test machine to pressurize the oxygen cylinder in two stages. In the beginning, pressurize oxygen cylinder to its nominal working pressure, then pressurize the oxygen cylinder to 1.5 times its nominal working pressure, and maintain the pressure. During the holding pressure period, the oxygen cylinder will expand due to high pressure inside, so some water in the water jacket will flow to a measuring cup. After pressure relief, the oxygen cylinder will partially restore, so some water in the measuring cup will flows back to the water jacket. The amount of water left in the measuring cup represents the amount of deformation of the oxygen cylinder. Then the hydrostatic test machine will automatically calculate the deformation rate of the oxygen cylinder. If the deformation rate exceeds 10%, the machine will determine that the oxygen cylinder is unqualified.
